A clogged muffler can seriously affect the normal starting and operation of a car.
A New Dazhou 125 (Honda King CG machine) motorcycle, after driving more than 1500 kilometers, experienced an inability to start on a harsh winter morning. The after-sales service personnel blindly followed the trend and repaired for most of the day, but failed to eliminate the fault. After guidance from professional personnel, the exhaust is blocked. Disassemble two exhaust silencers, which feel much heavier than before. Place them in a special container and add 100 degree hot water. Soon, a large amount of water will flow out of the exhaust silencers. The reason is that there are drip holes at the bottom of the muffler that are blocked, and the water vapor generated by fuel combustion cannot be discharged when it cools into water. Over time, many accumulated water will solidify into ice at low temperatures and block the muffler, making it impossible to discharge. The originally very simple minor malfunction caused the brand new car to be dismantled, and for a period of time, it was the circuit, and for another period of time, the owner of the gasoline powered car lost confidence in the previously notorious car. The maintenance personnel's misjudgment is futile and wastes valuable time.
Secondly, the muffler has lost its ability to eliminate noise.
A motorcycle muffler is very easy to damage, and most of them are used once a year. The high-temperature air behind the muffler oxidizes or the internal moisture is burned, and the exhaust gas corrodes and holes are formed, eliminating the noise core and causing it to fall off, thus losing its noise elimination function. After high-temperature blueing, it is thrown to the front end to eliminate noise, accelerating the oxidation of the air in that area. Over time, erosion and thinning occur until it reaches the hole, losing the function of eliminating noise. Frequent replacement of mufflers brings endless troubles to car owners. For example, the Tianjin Honda, which was born in the 1990s, was a high-quality car that was once attracted to people. It is difficult to keep the muffler as it is. If the manufacturer replaces the muffler material with stainless steel plates, it will greatly extend its service life. Motorcycle muffler manufacturers have retrofitted many large displacement car mufflers with argon arc welding. Stainless steel plate mufflers are not only durable and beautiful, but also have good noise reduction effects.
